It’s been a really long time since my last post. Not that anyone actually reads this anyway.
It was getting pretty hard to resist the temptation. Fortunatly there’s only one month left.
I do however have a pretty long list of things to buy when this is over. I’m in desperate need of some basics and new sport clothes. Those normally only last a year.
Can’t wait to shop again. It’s going to be expensive though T_T

Hey everyone,

sorry it has been so long since the last update.
A lot as happened.

First of all, Bir quit the challenge. Why? Well, because she simply couldn’t resist.
So after 5 months of not buying clothes, she cracked under the pressure. I’m actually pretty surprised she lasted this long XD

Second of all, in 6 days it will be 6 months since we started the challenge! So that means I’m almost halfway :D

Third, I ended up buying 2 items of clothing. We did receive a wildcard which we could use to buy 1 item. Well, I ended up buying 2 bikini bottoms, since I really needed them. Together they were only €5,- so I count them as 1 item.
When starting the challenge I thought I wouldn’t need a new bathing suit since I wouldn’t have a pool/beach holiday.

Well, I was wrong. Bir asked me last Monday to come with her to Mallorca. We’re leaving Wednesday.

So no new updates until after I come back. See you then.

Hey Guys,

Here is the second shirt I did. It was inspired by this video created by Itsblitzzz on youtube. I really love her shirt reconstruction video’s. I was just going trough all her video’s and there are many I haven’t seen left, so who knows. I still have some shirts XD

Anyway, I started cutting in the front of this shirt, and it did not look like the way I wanted it to. The fabric wasn’t really right so I had a lot of trouble with that. In the end I decided to continue cutting it and seeing what happened. Since I removed the collar anyway, i’d wear it in the back. Also, I hated hated the print on this shirt, so I was extra happy to cut it up. In the end I removed the tag and wore it inside out!

The front of the shirt was too boring though, so I gave a second try to the front that was used in the video, and it came out alright. I don’t think this will be my favorite top, but I had fun trying. Also, it didn’t matter if it wouldn’t work, since I didn’t like the shirt to begin with XD

Hey guys,

So the third shirt I did was very easy. This was a simple long sleeve black shirt. This was a tutorial by itsblitzzz also.

It was super easy, took about 25 minutes. All you need is a shirt and scissors. I decided against cutting up the front since it didn’t work out like I wanted the last time. Instead I just cut of the collar and stretching it so it’s kind of off shoulder.

This is my absolute favorite shirt so far! I might try this again!

Hi everybody,

I still had this old outfit picture.
The picture isn’t really flattering, but this is one of my favorite outfits.
As you can see it consists from a long black pencil skirt (that has lacing in the back) and my purple underbust corset. I decided to combine it with my purple and black tights. I also wore a black top over my long-sleeve shirt because I dislike wearing a corset with a boring black top.

Anyway, that was one of my outfits!

Hi guys,

So I want to show you my first t-shirt project.
I’ve loved this shirt ever since I got it in NYC 4 years ago. I’ve worn it quite often in the beginning. After a while the collar started to get a little tight and the seam of one of the sleeves started to unravel.
Since I loved this shirt so much I couldn’t make myself throw it away, and I’m glad I didn’t.

The tutorial I used for this I first found on pintrest. You can find it here.

Nice thing about this tutorial that it requires little sewing, and no extra material.
I didn’t follow it completely, since I didn’t want to cut of the bottom of my shirt since I’m quite tall. Instead I used the extra fabric around the collar to make the string, which is why it looks like it came from many pieces. I’m actually considering buying a ribbon for it.

Anyway, it was super simple. It took less then 2 hours, which includes hand sewing and watching tv at the same time. I absolutely love the result since I get to wear one of my favorite shirts again :D

Hi guys,

Sorry for not updating more often. Life got in the way.
I just want to show you guys a sneak preview of what I’ve been doing today.
It was a lot of fun, and I’m really happy with the results!

I’ll tell about them individually, since I’d also like to credit the people who made the tutorial.
You can expect some more of these somewhere in the near future. As you can see I still have some shirts left, and Bir has promised me to help me with the tutorial I posted a while back! Yay!

Well it has been a while but I’m back :) I’ve had a busy month (or two).

And now it’s Easter so I have time to blog something :)

The challenge is going great, I haven’t been in the mall for more than a month and I really really want to go to the mall to buy some make-up or magazines (not even clotes and that’s a miracle :))
Last week I thought it was a good idea to try my denim jacket on not as a jacket but as a “vest” sort of thing. So the challenge challenges me to try new combinations and it’s going great, I wear combinations I never thought of :o

I had a just-too-small t-shirt in my drawer. The kind of shirt that you love too much to give away, so it just sits there mocking you because it’s too small now. So I decided to stop guilt-tripping myself over it and turn it into something positive.

I followed this tutorial to make it (which took hours, because I don’t have a sewing machine), and then I added a lace trim along the bottom (which took a few more hours).

The sleeves are still a bit tight, but I’m definitely feeling much more fat-acceptancy now.

My only regret is that the adorable hedgehog’s face got caught in the crossfire.

Hello Everyone,

If you look up you can see my second assignment, the no shopping contract.
Those are pretty much the reason why I’m not shopping. Besides those I’m also trying to become really environmental friendly, so not wasting is a big part of that.

Assignment #3
Find a buddy and ask him/her to help you to fulfill your personal challenge

Well, this part won’t be really necessary since Bir is my buddy and I’m hers!

So my mom isn’t really helping me either. She has a habit of leaving old stuff she doesn’t wear anymore in my room thinking I can have it. Of course I can’t accept it.. Anyway, when I checked this morning I actually quite liked what she left…
So the perfect solution to this is a trade! I went looking trough my closet and found something I could give her back in return. (Even though she doesn’t know it yet XD)

Since I was wearing one of my favorite outfits, I thought I could show you :) This is also an attempt to keep updating the blog XD

Anyway, I love how the blue and the black have such a big contrast. Yes I like wearing black, but I love combining it with bright colours!
This outfit also has some good memories, because the first time I wore it was to my first Faun (favorite band) concert. I didn’t have the black longsleeve under it and combined it with a skirt though.

Funny how you can associate clothes with special moments :)

Oh my god! :o At this moment I hate being in this challenge and you can see the real fashion addict coming up in me. I just got a mail from Steps (a clothing store in the Netherlands) that Addy van den Krommenacker (who designed a red carpet dress for among other things supermodel Tyra Banks (you can she the dress he designed in the movie below) and was a guest judge in ANTM) is designing an collection for Steps. I really really love his clothes (and Chanel) because it’s female and elegant with a tough (sometimes). So I just want an Addy dress for sure and I don’t know how to get it… Maybe for my birthday, but wait I can’t accept a dress as a gift because of the rules… Maybe just let someone (or more people) buy an Addy dress for me and wait until the challenge is over?

almost a month

It’s almost a month ago that te challenge began :) Let’s say time flies because I was making a post in week 2 but because I was very busy the last weeks with school etc. I forgot to finish it (shame on me). I survived my testweek and have some great results ^^

Since I can’t buy any clothes, I am still looking for clothes, just for inspiration. I just found this really awesome jacket on a website (see picture below) and I think I’m going to make it for my own. I have some fabrics laying in a closet (checkered). Now I have to find the pattern or make a pattern on my one (my grandma has a book how to make your own patterns).

Assignment #1: I finally had some time to make an inventory of my closet and I found out that I have 106 garments in my closet. This includes formal wear, a part of my summer clothes and not my belts, socks and sport wear.

Assignment #2: For assignment 2 we had to make an contract with ourselves. Here is mine.

I, -Bir, declare that I will stop shopping for 365 days. My shopping sabbatical will start on 13 January 2012 and end on 13 January 2013. The rules:

I will not buy any items of clothes of accessories
This includes underwear & socks
I will not buy any fabrics in order to make clothes
I will not accept any of those above as gifts
I can swap mu clothing with others

Assignment #3: for assignment 3 I have to find a budy and ask him or her to support me to fulfill my personal challenge.
So I got my mom and of course I have Nika and a good friend of mine. My mom said that she would try to buy less clothes when I’m with her (or something like that, I can’t remember -_-“)

These were all the assignments we had to do in this month, so I think it’s Nika’s turn to do the last 2 challenges O:-)

Hello my darling followers, in other words, hello Nana and me..
Yeah, because so far we only have 2 followers. Bir isn’t even following herself XD

So far I haven’t been tempted yet to buy any clothes. That doesn’t mean that my annual January shopping craving is any less. I have now totally shifted my attention to Make up. I’ve never been a make up kind of girl, and I still loathe foundation, but have become totally obsessed with eye shadow.

So two days ago I placed a pretty big make up order for Bir, my mom and me. Can’t wait till it gets here tomorrow. I desperately need some nice make up brushes since mine totally suck!

I’m also very excited to go shopping in Maastricht for the first time in my life. It’s supposed to be an amazing city. And since I’m currently entering a make up obsession and they have a MAC store, I’m not afraid I’ll be tempted to buy clothes.

Anyway, moral of this story, the title of this blog is wrong XD It should be 365 without shopping for clothes, but that would just be too long.

So dear followers, I’ll try to get some outfit pictures soon! And I might post pictures of my new make up stuff tomorrow XD
Also, Bir promised me an inventory XD I’ll get her to post some stuff.
